Adam Beyer - Robotic Arms
Released right at the end of the month, the Godfather of Drumcode Adam Beyer has released two tracks one of which being ‘Robotic Arms’. This is the 3rd single from Beyer this year following ‘Legend’ and ‘Simulator’ with Green Velvet.
Robotic Arms stands out as the Swede’s best single this year with an infectious, almost horror sounding alarm ringing around the punchy beat for a massive drop, which is very club ready as proved by the man himself at Printworks earlier in the year.
LF System, Jamie Jones - Lose My Mind Remix
The second instalment of Jamie Jones’ ‘Lose My Mind’ remixes is from the Scottish duo of Conor and Sean, otherwise known as LF System. This is following the first remix by Eats Everything released the previous month.
The remix is a great example of small changes can make a big difference with it having more of a club feel to it with extra synths and louder drums, which differs to the original which sounds like it belongs in a beach club in the South of France. Towards the back end of the track is the biggest vocal change where a repeated ‘Maybe I’ve fallen’ is built up for the final drop of the song.
The pair are no strangers to a great remix as in 2022 their ‘Let You Go’ remix completley changed the vibe of the slow house version from Diplo & TSHA.
Across Boundaries (Chris Stussy & Locklead) - Sense of Future
The new duo ‘Across Boundaries’ made up of Chris Stussy and Locklead released their new EP in July ’Sense of Future’ including the track of the same name. Stussy has been on a phonomenal run this year with his potential track of the year ‘All Night Long’ and his fan favoruite set ‘In The Lab LDN with Mixmag’ which included ’Sense of Future’. The track is a real groovy 6 minutes and 15 seconds where its best to describe the track like it was made in space which is often a theme throughout Chris’ music with its funky bass and robotic vocals. The small details are what makes this track, with a pair of good headphones you will be able to appreciate the track fully.
The pair have since locked themselves in a studio for 10 days for even more music and with unreleased music from Locklead and Stussy going viral over Instagram and TikTok, the pair will be keen to keep the momentum going into the back end of 2023.
Us Two - What’s Your Name
What’s Your Name released within the EP with the same name was released on Eastenderz label in July after some heavy support from East End Dubs himself. This is some feat for ‘Us Two’ as the two brothers, Craig and Grant Gordon as the pair have only been releasing music on Spotify from this year. The track which will be stuck in your head all day with it’s catchy lyrics, its warm beat and its big bass underneath combine for a great debut release on Eastenderz.
ARTY, London Grammar - Hey Now (ARTY Remix)
London Grammar the electronic pop trio from London released their compilation album ‘The Remixes’ in July consisting of 16 remixes of their tracks remixed by DJ’s such as Jamie Jones, Disclosure, Joris Voorn and more. ARTY remixed the trio’s ‘Hey Now’ turning it into a progressive house track which has had support from Camelphat over the last few weeks. The outstanding vocals from Hannah Reid mixed with the now euphoric sounds and beats makes for a perfect track which will be heard by many this summer.
