New Warehouse Project Application
Last month we were luckily invited down to XXL Warehouse Project to review their new safety app whilst also getting to watch some of the biggest names in techno take to Manchester for one of the best techno events in the calendar.
The brand-new mobile application is designed specifically to accompany and cater visitors’ needs. The app will carry essential information for every show, including first access to set times and schedule creation, and key festival-standard safety features – which allows visitors to use in-app location features, pre-set templates for an instant messaging feature to report any incident directly to WHP. As well as detailing any lost property and acquiring up to date drug reports courtesy of MANDRAKE, and more. Supporting the use of the app during shows, The Warehouse Project has installed a free site-wide Wi-Fi connection for all visitors to access. We found the Wi-Fi to work in most areas and this enabled us to meet up with friends inside and order a taxi at the end of the night, so overall this worked well considering the amount of people inside the depot.
On the app in the event safety area there is a ‘message’ option, clicking this once will prepare a text to send to your chosen contacts (ravers can set this up before they attend) with your exact location incase you get lost and the same with the call contacts button, this allows you to call contacts quickly.
Kim O’Brien, Director of Operations at The Warehouse Project, said: “We are proud to launch our industry leading app, which is designed to elevate customer experience at The Warehouse Project. The team has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure customers’ experience and welfare are our top priorities, and to deliver the best on-site experience possible for everyone involved.”
XXL Review
XXL Review
XXL is now one of the most popular annual WHP events each year and after attending it was obvious why. Tom and the team at Teletech (founders of XXL) put together an unbelievable lineup with each stage having stacked lineups. Firstly in the Depot where I seen Fjaak who I’ve seen a few times now and never play a bad set and it was no different her, and the production behind the stage with the net and the dancers just took that stage to a new level. Later on Amelie Lens was also performing at the Depot with a solid set yet again, playing an edit of Forever Ravers from ANNA and Miss Kittin which seems to be a popular song in her sets recently as she also played this in Ibiza in Hï in September the last time I seen her and the crowd pleaser ‘The Outsiders’ was also played which really excited the crowd as it always does.
Also a special mention to 999999999 who played such a relentless set in the Concourse which is one of the best club rooms in the UK, its obvious to see why they are one of the biggest names in the world of techno now with their hard techno style not giving a minute to slow down.
The set of the night for me and many others though was Brutalismus 3000 who played in the archive, although the stage was seriously busy they had the room bouncing from start to finish. Theo’s skills behind the decks and Victoria’s vocals created such a good energy in the room, with songs like Atmosféra just had people moving non stop and then to play a Suga Babes edit (Sugababes – Push the Button DJ G2G Edit) mixed in there after all these really dark and hard techno songs was the perfect placement and was the best reaction to a song I’d seen all night. I genuinely can’t wait to see the pair again after that set.
Overall XXL was fantastic. The lineup, the production and most of all the people attending were all spot on. Everyone was there for a good time and not just for their Instagram and I think that’s credit to Teletech for creating such a good community. I’m looking forward to my next visit to a Teletech event.
Also a big thank you to Warehouse Project for inviting us down, look forward to returning soon.
